Legit copy , updated through steam , there is no bfbc2updater.exe in my main folder , put in the dinput8.dll into main , click bfbc2 exe , this happens, halp. also yes legit copy

Steam has a different patch schedule than the one for retail version.

Try this:

- Make sure that Steam won't update the game anymore.
- Download the official R11 patch for BFBC2 and install it
- If it fails it means that the patch can't localize your installation (due to missing registry-entries)
- In that case you could try to find the BFBC2Updater.exe via Google and patch the game that way

Your game has a different version than R11. Project Rome only works with games patched to R11.
The steam version is utilizing a different game version apparently.
