AE is not for video cut. Premiere Pro is adobe's equivalent to Sony Vegas, more or less

I only know simple editing stuff :3

After Effects is way better for montages, though, as it enables you to create an infinite amount of variants and effects.

Apart from that, I'd recommend Premiere Pro.
