Because of their plugin. It's kind of disappointing to see 'PC Update' in the BL Feed and it having only the Plugin update and no real changes what-so-ever. If it at least added/fixed/changed something, it may have been worth, but for this, to break VU would suck.

The Update just went live and didn't break VU. They just added a "BF3WebHelper.exe" but the rest of the files (including the main .exe) remain unchanged.

Why would anyone assume any kind of bad intention from Dice, to start?
We're talking about Dice here, not Activision or Rockstar.
By the way Dice has been acting towards this project, they demand some more consideration from the community.
Dice has never bothered us, and VU even contributed to some extra sales. I only bought BF3 (with premium included, to get the DLC files) because of VU. Same goes to some friends of mine who shared a Beta key. And more will buy BF3 once VU is open and communities can finally host game servers in their own countries.

Same will happen to BF4 if the game will ever be touched by the devs.

DICE games have good potential which is never actually reached / maxed out since EA/DICE is just pushing sales... too bad.

Few people here in Portugal buy the game because of it's deployment. Client-sided hit register with servers being hosted 2000km away means that you'll often just hit the ground before you even saw the first bullet being shot.
If you could host game sessions here in Portugal, a lot more people around here would buy the game. Instead, some buy and tell the others how they get killed without even getting to see an opponent, wich leads to all the other people who got that feedback not to buy the game.
