Commander mode?

Is there gonna be a commander mode in the final version of Venice?I want to call in arty strikes and drop cars on camping enemy snipers just like the old BF2 days :P

If it's not in the game, how is it gonna be in Venice? Maybe if someone made a MOD for it, then it could possibly be achieved, but it won't have an official Commander mode. This isn't BF4 (and that Com mode sucked btw)

It depends on how far can the modders go in the game files and the engine or maby neither, you can only find out by trying after VU is released :D

The only thing I know is the arty strike.I could just make the commander code from BF2.And the only thing I made is a arty strike which is a mortar strike with a larger spread and damage radius and a stronger damage.

Why don't we all just wait until Venice comes to see if you can actually use a code from a completely different engine and make it work in this game... Besides, Mortar strike would be absolutely pointless as it takes 2 hits to kill and has a small blast range. The Artilery strikes in BF2 used to take out tanks even, but of course, it's displayed on the map so enemies can avoid it. You need to take everything into consideration before putting a "cool idea" into reality.

Shoot a bullet to give an order, bullet hit point received by server. Do some trickery on the server to spawn random tank shells facing downward at a slightly random angle. Assign those shells to have a owner of the commander. Let the server continue with spawning, they fall and do destruction with increased damage and blur effect.

Sounds like a start to a mod to me ;)

There will be a blog post about modding in VU (both using the Extension System and Rime) in the short future.
Until then, we can't really say much.
