Can't play BFBC2 online?

So I downloaded the emulator thing and followed all of the directions properly. I made an acc on here (obviously). Everything works fine up until I try to join a server. Whenever I try to join *any* server the screen turns black and the game automatically closes down, no error screen or anything. Anyone know a fix for this?

Open the file "settings.ini" using notepad and go to the line "DxVersion=Auto" and change it to "DxVersion=9"

I get 70 to 80 fps with my GPU at medium

I tried changing auto to 9 and it's still not working. Graphics aren't a problem as I can max the singleplayer and still get around 70ish FPS.
