That error message is because you have modded files. It is not an error caused by VU, but by BF3 itself (after they added the security checksums) If origin is telling you everything is up to date (which it isn't because one or more of your maps have failed verification) then you may have to re-install in another location or delete Battlefield 3 (or Uninstall) and re-install.

I install VU outside of the game folder, and it works. Maybe you installed it in the game folders or something?
