No Offficial Server hostable ? ProviderID.dat

Hello,
tell me if i misunderstood smth.:
At ~2011 EA decided to do not longer allow Dedicated Server from private persons, only from trusted Hosters like i3D.net, gamed!, 4players etc.
Actually it is only doable to Host servers via BF2Hub (for Battlefield 2) and for BFBC2 via this project here Project Rome / Nexus ?
For LAN Partys you can use BFBC2 MASE Project files. (no online features etc.)
But in theory with an actual ProviderID.dat and serverID.dat you can host a server on your machine ?
*okay you can still host official servers like before, all you need is to change is in Win32Game.cfg
-server -dedicated -feslhost bfbc2-pc-server.fesl.ea.com:18321 -theaterhost bfbc2-pc-server.theater.ea.com:18326
