How are we going in terms of high tickrate servers?

Mon Dec 21, 2015 12:39 pm

I remember there was a blog post which show the modification of BF3 server tickrate.
Just like what EA have done to the BF4 servers.

NoFate said there are many bugs and glitches caused by high tickrate at that time.
Do we have problems on high tickrate servers till now?

Correction - The EA servers started doing their 'high frequency' servers when Nofate showed his. And seeing how it's a 2-man team, you can't expect all the frequencies to be perfectly stable. Still, the only one that's weird is the 120Hz one where your body keeps wiggling bellow your waist and bullets come out of your head rather than your gun/vehicle. 60 Hz is fine though.

I watched a video showing the official BF3 server sends update packet to clients with a frequency of 10Hz. While 60Hz BF4 server send frequency is 60Hz or adaptable.
What about the 60Hz VU server?
Is 60Hz VU server able to handle 64 players matches fluently?

It used to lag when there were 30-something+ players but that was a really long time ago. I guess we'll find out starting the 24th since people will likely flood the servers.

That was on 120 Hz servers. 60 Hz servers were never throughoutly tested but should be able to hold up with up to 64 players.
There used to be a signature here.

We have made many tweaks to high frequency, we are still also going through and researching how to resolve many of the high-frequency issues. You can track the progress on the github issues tracker.

What is the default tickrate that the servers are currently running? I see that BF3 vanilla has default of around 10-15. So, are normal VU serves (which don't require client to be restarted) running the same 10hz or are they running at 30 as default?

VU servers from what I've seen are 30, 60 and 120 Hz.
