All the HDDs I have are Western Digital, and I have had no problems with any, 80GB - yes, ~8years old, 250GB - 6 years old, 750GB 10k RPM 2 year old. And my Hitachi 1TB 7200RPM external drive, which I have never had any problems with. I did though, have a seagate, which was two years old, and died on me last year. If you want quality, I suggest you stay away from Seagate.

Thanks,

Stay away from their "Green" series though :P
I had one of those Green series, and I just returned it a few days later, replacing it with a Black series one.

From my experience the Seagate HDD come second worst HDD ever after the Toshiba . samsung and Hitachi on the other hand are one of the best [not a long experience] yet my current laptop HDD is Seagate ST9500325AS is healthy after a 600 day , 14 hours of Power ON kind of impressing and i start notice kind of slowing down maybe cause am working on another PC with higher RPM and cache

Could is the only solution for peoples who does really scare from losing their importing data . yet nothing it 100% safe :(

When I had that issue, they wanted to charge me 1000 dollars for each 100Gb of data to recover.
