Competitive Mode

As we love to listen to the community, thanks to a few players like BrettFX, and MiloshTheMedic who streamed and worked with us on streams. We want to hear your input on different things that you would want to have a proper competitive mode.

  • Round and Ticket Modifications (in case of server crashes)
  • Protected servers (passwords, and player id restriction)
  • Ready up period
  • Default spectator cameras, for jumping to different parts of the map for action.
  • Rework the spectator controls
  • Switching sides every round (rush based gamemodes)

But this list is only is what I can think off the top of my head currently from feedback from the stream.

Making spectator keys rebindable in the menu would be a good addition.

I think there should be weapon restrictions too, tho those can probably be made via VeniceEXT.

    - I'm not certainly sure what you mean with that, but depending on the amount of player (e.g. 2v2, 5v5, 8v8) there needs to be done some more testing with the community to find the best value(s).
  • Protected servers (passwords, and player id restriction)
    - A whitelist is a good idea, but somehow useless if you the server is password protected anyway.
  • Ready up period
    - Absolutely yes. (May till five players have joined?)
  • Default spectator cameras, for jumping to different parts of the map for action.
    - Switching between flag A to B (or bomb plant point) and so on would make the spectating easier/faster. I think it's a good idea, but has to be optional, so you can disable it.
  • Rework the spectator controls
    - Can't comment on that. I'm not yet familiar with all the commands, sorry.
  • Switching sides every round (rush based gamemodes)
    - Well, yes, but it is hardly to say in general. I think this depends on the guys who want to play against each other.

Additional notes:
I would love to see a "Search for Competitive Match" Button in the main menu, which would create a new "instance", waits until all player have connected (depending on how much player you were looking for, for example 8v8), maybe with a "Ready Up" and a integrated chat vote system, like "Do you want so shuffle teams each round?" or "What map next? 1. Metro 2. Wake"

Well, first of all I think the gameplay need some major changes (something like ProMod comes to mind). AFAIK BF3 has already a match system where everyone has to ready up before starting a match (I remember it being used on many ESL matches). RoundTime and Pause functions are needed, the first one is a must for Squad Rush mode (iirc camping attackers were a problem), the second one is needed in case of crashes and not only that.

Spectator mode definitely need improvements, I'd say bringing it on par with the BF4 version would be a good start, naturally I'd suggest to go even further a bring it on par with what CS:GO has (if possible) :D Oh and what about a battle-recorder/demo-recorder? Is any of that possible?

That's it for now, I'll add more later if anything comes to mind :D

E1: a competitive matchmaking too wouldn't be bad.

Conquest with no flag spawning, squad spawning or gadget spawning, only main base spawing allowed!

Ticket bleed could work like we have it today, but if one of the teams capture all flags they will instantly win the round!

Metro would be a really good map for a mode like this!

I know this mode from day of defeat and played alot of competitive over there.

Or better yet, have 2 MComs and the Attackers need to destroy only 1 to win. Round of 2 minutes 5v5 with no respawns. Oh wait... so much for the original concept...
